In the Skin Deep exhibition at Berrington Hall, Oliver Jones’ pastel drawings are about how people strive for physical perfection, and the ways in which they do that, for example beauty treatments (special mud on your skin), surgery, and tattoos (footballers love them!). Jones includes modern technology in his work, such as the mobile phone, a place where people aim to present their best selves, where their lives can look perfect - because we only see what they show, not what they hide.

Join artist Jancis Vaughan for a series of workshops on Instagram's IGTV, where she'll show you fun ways to make art exploring these ideas, thinking about how you control how other people see you, and what you do to make yourself look good! You’ll be making masks, altering your faces to find your ‘best side’, playing with phones to make selfies, zooming right in for a giant feature focus…

Materials you will need:

We’ll be going live in February half term on Meadow Arts Instagram Live IGTV - see you there!
