Take a tour of Urban Ruins in Worcester followed by a fun ruins-themed activity at the Art Gallery with artist Andrew Howe.

9 images of textures and architectural details in coloured boxes

Explore the city in a fun walk and workshop using photography, creative writing and drawing.

Artist Andrew Howe will lead a gentle walk around Worcester, identifying layers of history and looking at how the city is in a continual process of change, decay and renewal. Get up close to buildings to make texture rubbings or tracings of surfaces and signs, use water to make temporary graffiti and bring your camera or phone to take photographs, looking for beauty in overlooked details. Andrew will help you develop some photographic techniques.

Returning to the Museum, there will be a workshop to gather your findings into a fabulous giant collage celebrating the story of the city today. We would love you to bring some of your own photographs of Worcester buildings and architectural details and share your memories in words for this collaborative artwork.
