To celebrate Heather and Ivan Morison’s The Long Afternoon of Earth residency at the Hive, Meadow Arts is running a drop-in art workshop for the whole family on Saturday 12 May, in the Children’s Library at The Hive, from 11am-2pm.

This fun family creative occasion is led by experienced Worcester based workshop leader and artist Sarah Edwards of Spare Room Arts, who will be working with children and adults to make an installation in the form of a giant totem pole, allowing artworks to be carefully stacked on top of each other to make a piece of work that evolves over the course of the day.

Inspired by the new papercrete and Bonsai sculptures by the Morisons currently on display at The Hive, the structure will grow in size and stature as more people take part. Everyone who participates in the project will make a piece of work to go onto the totem and people can create something as simple or as complex as they like. The work could take many forms and will be prompted by questions such as ‘tell us what you know’, topics such as the environment, space, travel, oceans, history, music and more will be used; some serious, some fun and playful.

Come along for free and help us make some art!
