Kate MccGwire

Kate MccGwire explores the idea of duality in her work. There is a sense of ‘otherness’ about it: a feeling of unreality that clashes with the earthy and substantial mass of its appearance. It is at once beautiful and unsettling. In her making process, MccGwire says, “I gather, collate, re-use, layer, peel, burn, reveal, locate, question, duplicate, play and photograph.”

Kate MccGwire has an MA in Sculpture from the Royal Academy of Art. Her work has appeared in numerous exhibitions in London and abroad, including shows in Berlin and New York.
