Meadow Arts is a West Midlands based contemporary visual arts organisation which commissions new works and produces temporary outdoor exhibitions.
Following a flexible and creative approach to exhibiting and producing art in the natural environment, our programmes propose site-specific alternatives to existing models such as sculpture parks or public art. Based outside urban centres our exhibitions bring high quality contemporary art to areas where few other facilities exist.
Meadow Arts operates on a peripatetic basis, working with a variety of host heritage venues with an established visitor base. This helps create new audiences, encourages partnerships and provides opportunities for vibrant education programmes.
In 2006 a partnership with the National Trust was initiated which resulted in the exhibition Still Life at Hanbury Hall (Worcestershire) in 2007. The large scale Give me Shelter is currently open at Attingham Park (Shropshire) until 15th September 2009 while Tell it to the Trees will open at Croft Castle (Herefordshire) on 10thJuly 2009 and run through to September 2010 .
Meadow Arts has also been mandated by the Arts Council and the Elmley Foundation to develop and deliver a rural commissioning programme which will challenge current practices in public art. Over 3 years (2008-2010) the programme will produce and site a series of arresting new works in Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
Meadow Arts is a Registered charity number: 1125145. The organisation is supported on a regular basis by the Arts Council as well as other Trust and Foundations
